Paul Pogba withdraws from France national team
According to recent reports, the Manchester United midfielder will miss 8-10 weeks following a thigh injury. The French talisman has withdrawn from the national team following the injury.
He traveled with his countrymen to face Kazakhstan and Finland in the World Cup Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2022 taking place in the final international break of 2021.
"Manchester United have been informed Paul Pogba could be out for two months with a thigh injury ahead of performing their own assessments on the midfielder.Initial tests undertaken by the French FA and reported to United have indicated Pogba could be sidelined for between six and eight weeks. Paul Pogba played his last game for Manchester United against Atalanta in the fourth GW of the UEFA Champions League.
Ole withdrew him in the 68th minute, following a dismal performance on the pitch. PP6 is was serving a three-match suspension in the Premier League following his poor challenge in the 5-0 humiliation against Liverpool.
Paul Pogba’s performance in the 2021/22 season
The 28-year-old had a great start to the 2021/22 season in the English top-flight. On the first day of the campaign, he registered four assists against Leeds United.
He garnered three more in the next three games to take it up to seven assists from four played. Sadly, he saw a drastic fall in his form soon after the game against Newcastle United.
Since the Newcastle fixture, Pogba has played over 544 minutes and has registered no goal or assist in the Manchester United shirt.
Consequences of Paul Pogba’s thigh injury
Paul was not available for the fixture against Watford because of his red card against the Merseysiders. With the injury, the World Cup winner will miss up to 12 Premier League games.
This will also impact his potential exit in the winter transfer window. The player has seven months remaining on his contract and there are no signs of the midfielder extending his stay with the Old Trafford outfit.
