Manchester United on “Super Sunder” were quite frankly, owned on home soil when they met Liverpool in the oldest English rivalry; the final score of 0-5 at Old Trafford has set us up for an intense and interesting week for all those at the Manchester club and especially for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It was a proud day for Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool side when they totally annihilated Manchester United in their own backyard; It was five goals to the visitors thanks to an opener from Naby Keita, a second from Diogo Jota and then a hat-trick from the most in-form Premier League player, Mohamed Salah – this all transpired before the hour mark of the match.

This is not the first time the Red Devils have been thumped by five goals in the Premier League era and under Ole. Afore Sunday’s devastation, Jose Mourinho, the then Spurs boss, took his new team to his old team and slapped Ole’s men with a 1-6 defeat at the same venue.

Overall, this is the seventh time United have gone down by five goals or more in the EPL era – but we all know – things have been cagey at Old Trafford, to say the least, and this was a long time coming for them.

Where does this defeat leave the club, is an important question – but an even more important question is – how long will Solskjaer still have his post as the manager?

No Manchester United fan wants to see Ole in the job

As clear as daylight, almost every Man United fan wants “#OleOut” to happen. Some United legends and pundits are in agreement with the fans as well. The only people on board with an Ole stay are those in opposition to the club and their progress.

The extraordinary turn of events has certainly left the club in a position where they have to think, what next to do: do they turn the page or do they stay true to the man in charge? This week, without any EFL Cup action for the Manchester club, will be an important one for them.

Since the start of the season, it has not been convincing enough

This defeat makes it back-to-back Premier League losses for the Red Devils, who have now collected a pathetic one point from a possible 12 points – they’ve lost three and drew one from their last four league outings.

A knockout defeat by the hands of West Ham United in the Carabao Cup and almost the same number of losses as wins after 9 played in the league campaign displays that change is needed at the Theatre of Dreams.

The only thing looking “good” or “promising” for them is leading Group F after the first round of group-stage games in the Champions League have concluded. Other than this, Manchester United are in shambles.

Latest news regarding Ole and his job

"No meeting in the night for Man Utd board. They’ll decide final position in the next hours/days – Solskjær has always been protected so far #MUFC Rumours about Antonio Conte ‘not considering’ Man Utd job were NOT true. But no official talks yet."

There is no secret in this update: Ole Gunner Solskjaer has always been protected by the club and the possibility of him being sacked as the manager has always been nipped in the bud – the board was never entertaining the idea.

However, after the Old Trafford massacre handed to them by the hands of old foes Liverpool Football Club, they will surely consider their options. Antonio Conte’s name has been mentioned more often than not, but the club’s hierarchy have also squashed any rumours linking him to the club.
