Romelu Lukaku was the third most transferred in forward at the time of writing this; a popular captain on polls for GW9 and is sitting with an ownership of 31.6% in FPL.

The Belgian picked up an injury in the first half of Chelsea’s Champions League tie against Malmo midweek and while we don’t currently have an injury update from Thomas Tuchel as of yet, it’s expected that he might miss at least 3 weeks of football.

So how do we go about replacing the 11.7 million forward in FPL?

Here, we highlight 4 viable strategies:

1) Straight transfer to Jamie Vardy

The 10.6m Leicester man has scored 7 goals and got 1 assist in 8 games including an impressive 35 points in his last 4 games. He’s rested, on penalties and looks to be in fine touch.

He’s the in-form forward and the safest option for managers who are looking for a single transfer option to move to from the Belgian.

He has an away trip to leaky Leeds United and a home tie against Watford, still without a clean sheet this season – games in which he might be a strong captaincy option.
