#4 Marcos Alonso/Reece James v Norwich City (H)

Be warned, this captaincy choice is extremely high risk!

In every single Premier League game that Chelsea have scored in this season, one of their wingbacks have been involved — whether that be through, at least, one goal or assist. This is an eye-opening statistic and just shows how attacking Chelsea’s wingbacks actually are.

Most people are aware of how poor Norwich have been this season — they have only found the back of the net twice over the starting period. A Chelsea clean sheet is therefore on the cards this weekend.

However, the main problem at hand is the heavy rotation in these positions by Tuchel. This is why captaining a Chelsea defender can come at a significant risk, although, given that James and Alonso have been benched against both Brentford and Malmo within the space of 3-4 days, we can expect both to start in the easy fixture against the Canaries.

But given the unpredictability of Tuchel’s team selection, there is no guarantee that they start. Those looking for a safer captaincy pick in the Chelsea defence can opt for Rudiger instead, who is one of the most nailed on and important players in Tuchel’s lineup.
