The FPL captaincy decision in GW9 presents us with the typical form v fixtures debate. Mo Salah is in the form of his life and is scoring goals for fun at the moment.

On the other hand, Chelsea assets have a very easy fixture against Norwich — but how much do the injuries of Lukaku and Werner impact things? Alternatively, are there any other players to consider outside of Chelsea assets and Salah this week? Let’s find out.

Top 5 Captaincy Picks for GW9 in the FPL
#5 Ivan Toney v Leicester City (H)

If I had to choose someone from the Brentford v Leicester City game for captaincy this week, I’d opt for Ivan Toney over Jamie Vardy. This comes down to one main factor — Leicester’s defence has been much leakier than Brentford’s.

The Foxes have already conceded 14 goals this season, which ranks them 5th worst in the league. On the flip side, Brentford have conceded just 7 goals, which is the 5th best in the league.

The fact that Brendan Rodgers’ men have conceded twice the number of goals as Brentford this season indicates that Vardy may have a harder time scoring than most people think.

Another thing to add: Leicester are yet to keep an away CS this season. And if Brentford score, you’d assume Toney will be involved.
