Manchester City and Phil Foden are reportedly quite close to agreeing on a deal that will see the Englishman stay put for the long-term future and receive a substantial pay increase.

Phil Foden, who has been in deadly form since returning from injury, will extend his stay at his boyhood club, Manchester City. As per the talks, the contract, once signed, will see him stay put at the Etihad until 2026 – and added to the six-year extension – he will receive a £150k-per-week.

This will see an increase of £138k from what he is currently earning, which is a small fee of £12k per week. That is a massive salary hike but undeniably well deserved, with the attacker becoming one of Pep Guardiola and Man City’s most important players in the squad.

"As reported by the Mirror, Phil Foden is now set to sign a ‘lucrative’ new deal at Manchester City and owing to this, the England star is in line to receive a ‘huge pay rise’.The report states that talks between Manchester City and Phil Foden’s representatives are currently ‘ongoing’, however both parties are close to agreeing on a six-year agreement worth £150,000-a-week.Should the contract terms equate to £150,000-a-week over six years, the total worth of the contract would be just shy of £47 million – and would see Foden become one of the Sky Blues’ highest earners. Phil Foden is cementing his place in Guardiola’s starting XI

Foden missed the first three or four weeks of the current campaign, following a prolonged lay-off due to a foot injury he picked up while on Euro 2020 duty with England.

While out of action, Phil Foden missed five games for City. Once he returned to action, he almost walked straight into the starting 11 – and rightly so; the games he did not feature in nor start, City lost.

When he was fully fit and ready to start week in and week out, his best performance came in one of Manchester City’s most important clashes for the season to date, a matchup against title-contenders Liverpool.

The 21-year-old was City’s best player on the day and scored a goal, helping them head back to the Etihad with a point intact. This season after playing seven, he has already scored two and assisted two across all competitions.
