Ahead of the trip away to King Power Stadium to face Leicester City, Manchester United have an unfortunate injury crisis to deal with, leaving Ole with a nightmare in selection duties.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to decide on a new defensive pairing ahead of the game against Leicester City with both Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane unavailable due to a calf and groin injury, respectively.

According to an official statement released by Manchester United, the French defender is set to miss this weekend’s top-flight fixture and additional few weeks with nothing officially announced regarding the CB’s return date.

Predicted Manchester United line-up without Raphael Varane

David de Gea was left on the bench for Spain in the UEFA Nations League campaign. He will return between the sticks for the Red Devils this weekend; Aaron Wan Bissaka and Luke Shaw are primed to be the fullbacks, with Luke Shaw recovering from a strain he sustained.

But really it’s the central-defensive pairing that is the issue; Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, and Eric Bailly are the three options that OGS has to choose from – It is almost certain Lindelof and Bailly will start the game at the heart of the defense.

The midfield has come under lots of scrutiny over the last few games; with Fred out for this encounter, Solskjaer has to look to the likes of Nemanja Matic or Donny van de Beek to fill the void.

With severe concerns raised over VDB’s future due to lack of game time, the manager might give him the start ahead of the Serbian international. Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes will join Scott McTominay and van de Beek in the midfield on Saturday, in my predicted XI.

Cristiano Ronaldo is in red-hot form and will start along with the 20-year-old Mason Greenwood in the attack. Both account for a combined total of six goals in the Premier League.

Leicester City vs Manchester United: What can we expect?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure following a set of underwhelming performances in their last three games across all competitions – they have just one point from the last two EPL outings.

They need a win ahead of a set of tough fixtures. On the other hand, Leicester City find themselves in 13th place and they are under immense pressure as well.

We can expect a closely fought contest at the King Power Stadium on Saturday at 3; Manchester United might even experience a hostile reception with fans back at the stadium.
