Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea) – £11.7m

The common theme for GW8 wildcarders is to ditch Ronaldo for Lukaku — and I would recommend doing the same.

After Brentford, Chelsea play Norwich, Newcastle and Burnley — the three bottom teams in the league. We can expect Chelsea to score plenty of goals in these fixtures, so their FPL assets could come away with a lot of points.

I would also not be put off by Lukaku’s failure to score in his last 3 Premier League games. Chelsea faced some tough opposition in Spurs and Chelsea, and then the Belgian international was very unlucky not to come away with at least 1 or 2 goals against Southampton in GW7.

We should also note that after scoring a goal for Belgium last week, Lukaku was released from international duty early with muscle fatigue.

With one full week to recover, Lukaku should be fit and ready to face Brentford in GW8 — however, it is recommended to monitor the situation and keep an eye out for Tuchel’s press conference.
