Midfielder – Douglas Luis
Aston Villa 3-0 Everton

The Villains made another statement when they handed Everton their first loss of the campaign. At the centre of it all was midfield man Douglas Luis. The Brazilian was breaking up things in the middle of the park and turning defence into attack, in quick succession.

He made three successful tackles, bagged an assist, had 79% passing accuracy and made FIVE key passes. Honestly, how Aston Villa didn’t score more and him not collect another one or more assists, was astonishing.

Midfielder – N’Golo Kante
Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea

N’Golo Kante makes the list as the super sub of the weekend. The Frenchman was introduced in the 46th minute of the game for Mason Mount – a player regarded more attacking than the sub being introduced – but once he stepped onto the pitch, the momentum of the encounter automatically changed in Chelsea’s favour.

He scored the Blues second goal and confirmed the three points by the 57th minute already. Nuno Santo wasn’t ready for when the Frenchman walked onto the pitch and could do nothing tactically to get Spurs to overpower Chelsea’s midfield.

Midfielder – Martin Odegaard
Burnley 0-1 Arsenal

The young man scored the only goal in the game – a game where goals come far and few between – and he had to do it from a dead-ball situation. Martin Odegaard scored one of the best goals this weekend and also help Arteta escape from walking the plank for one more week, with their second three points of the season.

The club made him a priority and we can see why: as the season grows old and he gets more minutes, he starts showing his quality and why the Gunners waited for him patiently. The Norwegian was in the top five for passing accuracy, successful dribbles, successful passes and touches on the ball.
