Premier League: It’s all about Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United

It was another fantastic weekend of Premier League football; as it ended after Matchday 4, so does it remain the same after Matchday 5 with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United leading the pack and with all of them on 13 points apiece –  the only difference – Chelsea are at the summit.

Manchester City slipped up for a second time this season when they luckily escaped a penalty, Kyle Walker red card, and were probably saved a point by the match official, Jonathan Moss. After five matchdays played, Pep and his men now fall behind by three points in this season’s title race.

These three points could prove to be their undoing with things looking so tight at the top and the first three teams looking impenetrable (yes Man United have conceded four goals but they showing a will to win even when having to come back from behind) and too deadly in attack to stop them from scoring.

Over at the other end of the table standings, the struggle is real for many clubs still – the relegation battle is growing season by season – this campaign we could have nine teams fighting for survival. Currently, six points are separating last-placed Burnley and 11th-placed Watford.

To see Leeds United form part of five other clubs not to collect a win this term comes as a big surprise and judging by the results and form since day one, it’s not easy to predict who will get that first win of these struggling teams next weekend, Matchday 6.

Premier League goal of the weekend, Matchday 5: Naby Keita – Liverpool

Naby Lad! What a finish! What a celebration! The third and final goal for Liverpool and of the game against Crystal Palace is this weekend’s Top Flight selection for goal of the weekend.

At the time of scoring, there was nothing left in the game except for the Reds pushing for another goal and the Eagles trying to score a consolation goal following their efforts all afternoon.

Keita, after coming on for Thiago Alcântara in the 62nd minute of the game, had the final say in his side’s 3-0 win at Anfield. A party piece for the fans certainly when Keita volleyed a parried/punched out ball by Vicente Guaita.

It’s one of the sweetest strikes you will see this season; the technic, Stevie G-esque and the celebration, Eric Cantona-esque. It was just a perfect moment to cap off another brilliant Anfield victory and start to the campaign for Jurgen Klopp and his men.
