Worst FPL Performers of GW5
Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) – £11.9m

With Ronaldo making his comeback to Manchester United, Bruno’s FPL appeal has taken a significant blow. Apart from his wonder-strike from outside the box last week against Newcastle, Bruno has not registered a goal or assist since his haul in GW1 against Leeds.

This should be a cause for concern for his owners – and considering he started the season priced at £12.0m, managers would be expecting more at this price.

Ronaldo will likely be United’s main source of goals this season, which leaves Bruno stranded as an FPL asset. As Ronaldo establishes his talisman status at the Red Devils, Bruno may lose that spark he had in previous seasons.

The only saving grace for him in FPL would be if he managed to hold onto penalty duties over Ronaldo – but even this seems slim based on Ronaldo’s hunger for goals and his occupation of penalty duties in the Portuguese national team over Fernandes.

Verdict

There are many other premiums in FPL right now in much better form than Bruno – including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Romelu Lukaku.

I believe these 4 premium assets should be a priority to own over Fernandes. With United’s fixtures also turning for the worst, there is little reason to continue holding Fernandes.
