With Gameweek 5 of Premier League action now wrapped up, we look at the best and worst FPL performers of the weekend – and whether you should buy, sell, or otherwise with your Fantasy Premier League teams.

Best FPL Performers of GW5
Ismaila Sarr (Watford) – £6.1m

Albeit against Norwich City, Sarr managed to score a brace at Carrow Road in Watford’s 3-1 win.

In fact, he was unlucky not to come away with more. Sarr registered 5 shots on target in the penalty area and missed 2 big chances in the game – so an extra 1-2 goals on top of his brace would not have been surprising to see.

As Norwich have quickly established themselves as the ‘whipping boys’ of the Premier League, we need to note that Sarr won’t be facing the Canaries every week. Even so, Watford will be feeling confident after a big win, and this momentum can carry on into the following weeks.

What’s most appealing about bringing in Sarr this week is the two upcoming fixtures he has – Newcastle and Leeds United. These two teams have conceded a combined total of 25 goals in the first 5 games, which ranks them both in the bottom 3 in the league for goals conceded, just ahead of Norwich.

After Matt Ritchie’s disappointing display this week, Sarr should have a field day in GW6 against him down the right flank. Also in GW7, Watford faces Leeds, who have been dealt with many injury-blows – currently without 3 of their centre-backs, or even possibly 4 – with Ayling hobbling off injured this week.

Verdict

Sarr is primed to return in the next 2 games. He is high on confidence after his brace, so he could prove to be an explosive short-term option as a budget midfielder.
