Liverpool’s plans for summer has Bellingham at the top of the list

Having done nearly no work in the summer while all their rivals were busy adding some big names to their respective rosters, surely the Merseysiders are overdue for a “big-name transfer”.

The only player to arrive at Anfield and the AXA Training Centre is Ibrahima Konate – he joined the Reds for a reported £36m – also from the Bundesliga, from RB Leipzig.

This is where the 18-year-old comes in, with reports suggesting Jurgen Klopp sees him as the perfect fit to strengthen their midfield. However, with Jude showing world-class potential and having an eye for goal like ex-captain Steven Gerrard, they will surely face stiff competition for his signature.

Oldest rivals Manchester United have always been after him while across the road neighbours, City, have joined the race – but counting in Liverpool’s favour – they should have a big war chest to go toe-to-toe with potential Bellingham bidders, having only had a net spent of £11.5M this past summer.

Also, he already snubbed a move to Old Trafford to rather join the Bundesliga outfit for a low price of £25m back in the summer of 2020, when he left his boyhood club Birmingham City.

"Jude Bellingham is now Jurgen Klopp’s top transfer target at Liverpool, who lead rivals Manchester United in the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder. Liverpool want to sign Jude Bellingham next summer in what could prove to be a club-record £80m deal. For him to make the switch to Anfield and for them to convince Dortmund to sell, they will need to cough up Dortmund’s asking price said to be £80m.

This valuation of the versatile youngster would see Liverpool break their previous record fee of £75m paid for Virgil van Dijk back in December 2017, which would set a new club record.
