Second Place: Juventus

The Old Lady are going through somewhat of a rebuilding process and their Champions League ambitions will have suffered because of this.

The elephant in the room is obviously regarding Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the club after failing to complete the objective of winning the competition for the first time since the 1995/96 season.

However, there was a sense at Juventus that Ronaldo was in fact detracting from the team as a whole and the results may benefit because of this, as of yet that hasn’t been the case.

Allegri’s men have taken just one point from their first three games in the Serie A this season, conceding five in the process which is uncharacteristic given the presence of the usually colossal pairing of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.

In light of their recent form and the growing unrest between supporters and those in charge, there is a real chance that Juvé could slip below this but remaining sensible in my prediction I can see them finishing 2nd, but I wouldn’t rule out a below-par UCL campaign from them this season.

Another element that has impacted them is regarding injuries to key players such as the dynamic, Federico Chiesa, who had a storming Euros with champions-elect, Italy.

Key Player: Giorgio Chiellini

This pick is perhaps more representative of the Italian contingent that Juventus possess and along with the likes of Chiesa and Bonucci, if Allegri can retain a spine of players that featured at the Euros this summer, he will be hoping that his side will be able to replicate their success even if it is to a lesser degree.
