Luke Shaw (Manchester United) – £5.5m

Similarly to Alexander-Arnold, Shaw is one of the best chance-creating full backs in the league, which bodes well for FPL. Last season, the United left back registered an impressive average of 2.3 key passes per game, which was the fifth-best in the Premier League.

When we also consider United’s new defensive reinforcement in Raphael Varane, we could see the Red Devils keep some more clean sheets this season. This is a positive sign for Shaw’s FPL potential.

Also, with the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo, Shaw will likely see himself gain more assists this season through his crosses. After all, Ronaldo is known for his dangerous aerial ability in the box.

Shaw is one of the more short-term options in this wildcard selection, considering United’s tough fixture run from GW9. In the coming weeks, he could be an easy switch to another attacking defender – Reece James – who is due back from suspension in GW5.
