Premier League: Are Chelsea the team to beat in this season’s title race?
Forward – Gabriel Jesus
Manchester City 5-0 Norwich City
Jesus played in an unusual role when the Cityzens beat Norwich by the biggest scoreline of the weekend and nonetheless, delivered the goods for Pep. He recorded two assists for the night while playing out of position. It was a pure joy to watch.
Forward – Michail Antonio
West Ham United 4-1
The Englishman and red-hot Michail Antonio, made history this weekend past as teams continue to struggle to stop his prolific goalscoring form. He has now been involved in just a little over 60% (62.5%) of West Ham’s goals this season.
Of the four scored against the Foxes, Antonio who is also surprisingly still fit to play after 177 minutes of Premier League football, scored two goals and assisted one for his team. He is undoubtedly a top contender for the Golden Boot this season.
All English Premier League
Forward – Romelu Lukaku
Arsenal 0-2 Chelsea
First game back in the English Premier League and already off the mark; Romelu Lukaku scored Chelsea’s first goal in the London derby but could have had a lot more if it wasn’t for Leno’s hot hands.
The craziest aspect of the big Belgian’s game was his holdup play and his ability to bring other Blues into the match. He showed he has the strength of the bear by making Pablo Marí look like a grassroots defender, who is now questioning his profession – he totally bullied Mari for 90 minutes.
Manager of the weekend: David Moyes
West Ham United 4-1 Leicester City
David Moyes, a couple of seasons ago the villain but is now almost a certified cult hero at the London stadium. If they keep up this form, this West Ham side is going places.
Honourable mentions
Hugo Lloris, Trent Alexander-Arnold; Virgil van Dijk, Tyrone Mings, Sadio Mane, Pablo Fornals, and Danny Ings.
