Tottenham manager Nuno Santo’s statement regarding wantaway Tanguy Ndombele clears the air on his situation as the midfielder still wants out of North London and has requested that the club allow him to leave this summer.

Tanguy Ndombele, who hasn’t featured since last season and at all since the new boss Nuno Santo has taken over, feels now more than ever it is best to leave Tottenham. In reply, Santo made it clear they cannot force anybody to be at the club if they do not want to be there.

"Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo says it’s ‘not my job to convince players to play’ as midfielder seeks exitTottenham’s club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele has asked if he can leave the club this month; Nuno Espirito Santo raised the issue of motivation when asked why Ndombele has not been selected this season."

Tanguy was the North Londoners record signing at £54m back in 2019 and since making the switch from Lyon, he has been limited due to a number of reasons that stems back to Jose Mourinho’s days.

During his time at Tottenham, he made 73 appearances across all competition, starting 51 of the 73 games, scoring seven goals and assisting another eight. His last start came in a win against Southampton back in April this year.

With the way things have heated up between the player and the manager, there really is no seeing them turning a page – his time at the club is almost undoubtedly over.

Nuno Santo on Tanguy Ndombele:

"What happened in the past I can’t even think about, I don’t mention out of respect. What I can tell you is that Tanguy is with us, he works but we have to speak honestly and to take the best out of Tanguy [it] has to come from himselfWe already had a chance to talk but it must come from himself. I said it before, my job here is not to convince players to play for Tottenham Hotspur, it is to prepare players to play for Tottenham Hotspur (Via: skysports.com)"

The Frenchman, unfortunately, arrived at Tottenham when things were about to undergo change at the club and Mauricio Pochettino, the man that wanted him in North London, was about to get the boot.

Following Poch’s departure, it just hasn’t gotten any better although some promising signs were visible on a few incidents.

Honestly, his most promising moment came on his debut when announced himself with one of the best goals for the season against Aston Villa, which was also the equaliser for that game.

No teams have been named or linked to the midfielder but that could soon change. He will certainly leave for less than what Spurs paid for him and the club will have to take a loss.

He has four years left on his current deal. It could be hard for him to force his way out of the club. Don’t think he knows he is dealing with Daniel Levy, so things could get a lot uglier before the window shuts.
