Liverpool: Hoping Ben Davies gets all the game time he deserves
Ben Davies, on Monday, completed a loan move to now Championship side, Sheffield United; the player has only been at Anfield for six months but leaving was the best and only option.
Back in January, actually, throughout the whole season for the Reds, there was a major injury crisis that hit the club and work was needed to be done in the January transfer window because of it.
This is where Liverpool began their hunt for a centre-back or two. The club then announced the arrival of Ozan Kabak from Schalke and Ben Davies from Preston North End – the former on loan and the latter on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

While at the Merseyside club for that six whole months, Davies never featured ones in a competitive game. This brought forth the question, why did they sign him and why not give him a chance?
Making matters worse, Liverpool signed CB Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig and the first-choice lot of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip returned to full action; behind them, a couple of reserves in Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams, who would also get the nod ahead of Davies.
There really was no breaking into the first team unless another injury disaster swept Anfield. There were even talks that Jurgen Klopp did not want to lose Davies lastingly, and wanted to give him his deserved shot – but that will not happen – for now at least.
However, the defender understands that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to join the Reds and went in head first, wanting to not miss out on being able to put Liverpool on his resume.
Ben Davies said on Sheffield’s website:
"It (joining Liverpool) was a move that you could never turn down, it was really exciting. So I’ve had a good six months or so, but playing football is the most important thing to any footballer. (Via: liverpoolecho.co.uk)"
In the end, Sheffield Untied got their man
He now gets to join a club that will undergo a rebuild in the Championship. The Blades needed vast improvements made at the back and hopefully, Davies can be the start to something good.
The player deserves all the minutes he gets after such a lonely six months of no first-team football.
