Score prediction: Manchester United 4-3 Leeds United – Old Trafford, Manchester

This will be another high-scoring encounter. Why? Only because any game that involves Leeds promises plenty of action and goals. Their opening game and return last season at Anfield saw them lose 4-3 to Liverpool.

Adding to the evidence there will be plenty of goals when the pair kicks off Saturday’s events, Man United slaughtered them at Old Trafford 6-2 last season. Leeds will lose but give United a run for their money. Although, we do know the Red Devils can have a shaky start to a season.

Score prediction: Burnley 1-0 Brighton – Turf Moor, Burnley

A Turf Moor visit is seldom a memorable one for the visitors and fans. In this case, it looks as if it will be exactly that; a close call, boring Burnley encounter with the winning goal coming late in the second half.

Standing in Brighton’s favour is the still missing Nick Pope for the Clarets. Missing for all their pre-season outings, it’s almost certain we won’t get to see him back in action since sustaining his knee injury. Talking pre-season, the Seagulls haven’t impressed while Dyche’s men have put in some great displays. A Burnley win all the way!

Score prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Crystal Palace – Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea are on the up following their Super Cup victory over Spanish side Villarreal on Wednesday past. Crystal Palace are still finding their feet under new manager Patrick Vieira while in the other dugout Thomas Tuchel has his side translating what he wants on the pitch almost pinpoint.

Also, the German has a new secret weapon in Romelu Lukaku. Will he start or will he be introduced in the second half of the game for the home fans to hand him a proper welcome back round of applause? Whatever the case, it’s a Chelsea win and an Eagles loss coming Saturday.

Score prediction: Everton 1-1 Southampton – Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton had a mixed preparation period under their new boss Rafa Benitez and have a 4-0 loss against Manchester United to get over from before the season kicks off for them. Their opponents have lost two key players, one in defence and the other in attack.

This is where the Toffees could get ahead and actually steal all three points but the Saints still have some of their other gems and are always able to bring it in the early stages – but then they eventually drop off as the season pushes on.
