The Relegation Zone and Championship Bound

18. Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton have flirted with the drop for several years now and it seems as though their luck is up. The Seagulls have barely recruited and still have a large squad that is prone to injuries and for the most part, is not Premier League quality.

It is still possible that they may lose a few of their key players such a Yves Bissouma, and it’s a real doubt as to whether they could replace him. Up front, their big issue is with Neal Maupay; when he’s on the pitch he usually scores, but he often gets injured and seems to love a red card.

The team is unbalanced and can’t go on relying on Leandro Trossard and occasionally, Danny Welbeck to pull them out every time.

Brighton will have a late flurry of wins, but it won’t be enough to save them.

19. Brentford

Brentford are a very interesting team with their ‘money ball’ approach, Danish backbone, and the fact they had to banish some serious Play-off demons to get here. In the Championship, they were a fun, free-scoring team that looked very good, but things will be very different in the Premier League.

Brentford have stuck to their guns and kept the majority of the squad that got them up, just like Norwich did two years ago. The problem is, they haven’t added any top-level experience, instead of sticking to their policies.

It’s commendable but I don’t believe it will be enough to keep them up this year. They might give it a good go at the start but only has one end.

Brentford come up with a hop, but go down as one of the weakest – look for them to be the first to bounce back in the years that follow.

20. Watford

Watford have a solid side that would walk the Championship in most years if it was given a real chance. In the Top Flight, it could either be a speed boat or sink very quickly, and I’m going with sink.

Although the side does contain a lot of Premier League experience, they are an ageing side defensively, with no real substance in midfield.

Going forward they have a lot of talent but without balance, they won’t hold up. Watford are a team that can progress but will most likely be disjointed and some of that will be due to the fact the Hornets cannot keep a manager for a full season.
