Brentford’s story is nothing short of remarkable, after some ‘nearly’ moments in the last couple of years, they finally achieved promotion through the playoffs and will be playing in the Premier League for the first time in their history.
Their talismanic striker Ivan Toney is without a doubt one of the key reasons for their ascent to the top division of English football. Toney bagged an audacious and record-breaking 31 goals in the Championship while also setting up 10 goals last season.

Absolutely staggering numbers for a player who had just come up a division after playing League One football with Peterborough United a season back. The way Brentford set up to play, Toney is bound to have a high-goal involvement.
The 25-year-old is a great finisher who has shown his ability to be clinical time and time again; he is brilliant in the air and is a great header of the ball and also holds up the ball really well.
He has almost all the major attributes you would want in a striker and scores all types of goals. Toney is also a great penalty taker, his penalty technique is superb and even though it’s hard to execute, it’s effective and gets the job done.

He is undoubtedly a man with an abundance of talent, his mentality is also what makes him stand out from the rest and is something that suggests he could thrive in the Premier League.

Toney recently told Sky Sports in an exclusive interview:
"It is not about going up to survive, that is not our mentality. For all the boys in the changing room, [the target] is to win the league. You have to set targets that scare you. That definitely does scare us. We don’t know what we will do if we win the league. But if we set out to do that and fall just short then we are in a good place, we know what is to come, we just cannot wait for it to start now. Now, this might sound a bit far-fetched but it’s this mentality that makes the top players stand out from the crowd. What Toney did last season was also something that not many would have imagined him to pull off.
As they say, “Aim for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” Ivan Toney is here to make his mark! Watch out for him because this is a name you will be hearing a lot as the new season kicks off.
