Is Harry Kane trying to force a move out of North London by skipping training?
By Varun Aithal
According to recent reports, the English skipper and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane skipped consecutive training sessions since the start of the week Monday.
Journalists have linked this with his desire to leave and move away from Tottenham. However, Spurs have denied any of these claims and state they are nothing more than rumors.
"Harry Kane has failed to show up at Tottenham’s training ground for the second day in a row, but is expected to return this weekend. The 28-year-old was due to return to Hotspur Way on Monday following a short holiday as speculation around his future gathers pace."
Prior to the news of Kane’s AWOL status, Manchester City submitted an astronomical £100 million bid for Kane. Spurs’ CEO, Daniel Levy, rejected the bid as it did not meet their £150 million valuation of the striker.

In 35 games, the 28-year-old striker was instrumental in Tottenham Hotspur’s top seven finish. He scored 23 out of the 45 goals Spurs hit last season. Added to his goalscoring prowess, he assisted 14 of the other EPL goals.
This helped Kane win the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker awards but it was sadly not enough to win any major honors for the North London outfit.
What Harry Kane said in May?
When the 2020/21 season was on the verge of completion, Harry Kane was vocal about his ambitions. The striker not only praised the playmaker Kevin De Bruyne but, he was also envious of City’s strikers.
He said:
"Oh De Bruyne for sure. When I watch De Bruyne play he’s a special, special player and some of the balls I see him put in for City are just a strikers dream.(Via: GMS)"
What next for Harry Kane?
Some outlets reported he will return to training over the weekend. On the other hand, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano highlighted what a crucial week it is for Harry Kane and his future.
In his podcast, he stated:
"I expect some complicated weeks ahead, because the situation is really, really tense. I think this week everything will be clear. Tottenham need to take a position, and Manchester City are ready if their position changes. This week will be key to understand what will happen(Via: Sky Sports)"
Manchester City will have to break the English Premier League transfer record to sign Kane from Tottenham Hotspur and £100m might do the trick or be convincing enough.
City are also in for Jack Grealish from Aston Villa. It remains interesting to see if the Etihad outfit can break the bank twice in the same transfer window to sign the pair of English internationals.
