According to news outlets, the Premier League champions Manchester City have submitted a huge bid to sign Jack Grealish. The Etihad outfit has submitted a bid of £100 million to secure the services of the English playmaker.

Manchester City are having a dull transfer window and are yet to sign any first-team players. They have secured the services of Scott Carson on a free transfer though, but nothing more significant.

Barring the signing of the shot-stopper, they have added no major player to their roster. However, the club was rumored to be only interested in the signatures of English duo Jack Grealish and Harry Kane before the European Championship kicked off.

One of the most active transfer journalists, Fabrizio Romano, gave an update regarding the Jack Grealish-Manchester City move.

He posted on his Twitter handle:

"Manchester City are pushing to complete Jack Grealish deal “in the next few days”. Medical ready if total agreement will be reached with Aston Villa. #MCFC Official talks started two days ago with a deadline: agreement within next week or Jack will sign a new deal with #AVFC.(Via: Twitter)"

If the Etihad outfit is to complete the deal for the Aston Villa skipper, they will have to break the transfer record of the English Premier League. That seems likely at the moment with Pep Guardiola urging the club to secure the deal for Grealish.

On the other hand, Aston Villa have made it clear over their stance on the proposed transfer. Villa hopes a new contract offer for Grealish will help pursued him to take them at Villa park to the next level.

Jack Grealish 2020/21 season: A short review

More from Manchester City

Before suffering an injury in February 2021, Grealish led the team from the front. He has been the club’s chief playmaker. In 26 games, he scored six goals and acquired 10 assists. Also, he created 6.17 Shot Creating Actions (SCA) per 90, displaying his amazing creative ability.

Despite being ruled out for more than three months, he drew the highest number of fouls in the league. Jack Grealish was fouled 109 times in the 2020/21 campaign. In the season prior, Grealish was fouled 167 times.

In the European Championship, Grealish played in five games and had a total of 176 minutes. Though he started only one game, he had two assists to his name. For England, he averaged 3.58 Shot Creating Actions per 90.

Pep Guardiola has creative playmakers like Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez at his disposal. The addition of a player like Grealish will keep Manchester City as one of the most formidable sides in both England and Europe.
