Trent Alexander-Arnold on Friday with Liverpool announced that he has signed a contract extension that will see him stay at Anfield until 2026.
Not exactly the news Liverpool fans wanted to hear during this dry and solo show of a transfer window, but news they will be joyous about and cheer regardless of the lack of transfer activity.

Liverpool right to make Trent Alexander-Arnold a top earner
All English Premier League
Fans alike believe Trent Alexander-Arnold is finally getting what he deserves. At Liverpool, it is quite strange to see a 22-year-old earn anywhere above £150k-per-week but at other top clubs, it’s a norm – which it will become now for the Anfield side.
It’s especially unheard of to have a boyhood youngster come through the academy and become one of the best-rewarded at Liverpool. But this is what life has been for TAA and his rise at the Merseyside club.
Why the Reds will have to follow suit is not only because of the rapid inflation in football but also because they are competing at the highest level and must keep the top talent at the club happy by keeping them paid well.
Mohamed Salah, Thiago Alcântara, Virgil van Dijk, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, all these players named are the club’s best-paid and those who are the difference between silverware and a failed campaign run.
TAA, hands down, is one of the most lethal assets in Jurgen Klopp’s locker room. He is one of the few players in the world who can run an entire game from the right-back position. Usually, when he is off, the Reds are nowhere near to their best.
In his 129 appearances for Liverpool across five seasons in England’s top-flight, Trent has scored eight goals and collected a staggering 33 assists.
These numbers at his young age are more than enough for the Reds hierarchy to act and tie him down long-term. Anfield will need a captain when the likes of Jordan Henderson steps down, and he is building up to becoming the perfect fit.
Said to be next in line for contract extensions and salary increases are Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Sadio, Mo Salah, and VVD.
