We are just under 3 weeks away from the start of the Premier League and teams have been busy making signings following the conclusion of Euro 2020. So, I thought I’d give each team a rating on just how they have done at this point in the summer window.

Arsenal – C

Mikel Arteta’s side haven’t done anything stupid in this window, despite last year’s poor season and instead, they’ve removed a few players that needed to go, with David Luiz being released and Mateo Guendouzi being loaned out to Ligue 1 side, Marseille.

Arsenal have also invested in youth, bringing in two players aged 21, now these players won’t fix any holes but are certainly good for building a platform for the future.

Their best so far comes in the form of Ben White from Brighton, having successfully replaced the aforementioned Luiz. Haven’t fixed much but have got rid of some bad eggs and brought in some solid prospects. Not good, not bad, C.

Aston Villa – B

Villa have fixed the biggest problem they had, creating goals when Jack Grealish is not on the pitch. The signing of Emi Buendia is long overdue and just what this side needed, Villa also got rid of a lot of dead weight, removing the aging Ahmed Elmohamady and moving on Tom Heaton.

Bringing in Ashley Young could be an astute signing, his experience in defensive areas could really help complete this team.

Aston Villa have made solid signings and got rid of a lot of players that were just sitting around. Keep hold of Grealish and this would be an A, but for now, we’ll stick to B.

Brentford – C

Brentford have stuck to their guns and only brought in players that fit their policy. Bringing in the likes of Kristoffer Ajer and Franck Onyeka, are good players, who have top-flight experience yet also fit Thomas Franck’s system will be good for the team.

They haven’t panicked, which some newly promoted sides do but losing playoff hero Emiliano Marcondes and not replacing him could be a big blow.

Brentford get a C, stuck to what they know, but not sure if it will be enough, good job there’s time left in this window. Another, not good but not bad, C.
