What about Paul Pogba?

“The talks are ongoing between Paul’s representatives and the club’s representatives,” said Solskjaer when asked about the update over Pogba’s contract renewal.

The Frenchman has entered the final year of his contract and with PSG showing interest, United do need to make a decision and fast. By January 2022, Pogba will be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club and United cannot really afford to bear a loss.

As important as Pogba is, he remains United’s golden bird; someone who can fetch big bucks. The money can eventually be used in getting capable replacements. Now, United might have considered a few options likes Rennes Eduardo Camavinga and Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka, but their priority at the moment is an extension for the Frenchman.

In an otherwise scenario, United need to extract at least £50million from his sale. This would not earn them the top prospects like Jack Grealish or Declan Rice, but Camavinga or Goretzka could become realistic opportunities.

As discussed here, United haven’t really struggled in Pogba’s absence. For all you know, they have, in fact, faired better without him, so selling him for a marginal loss anyway remains a viable transaction.
