Three ways Manchester United can line-up with Jadon Sancho
By Varun Aithal
Formation 1: 4-3-3 with a single DM
Against a low-block side, Manchester United have failed to score several times. Jadon Sancho can do wonders for the Red Devils as he can whip in crosses perfectly.
Compared to Mason Greenwood (Greenwood played as an RW), Jadon Sancho has 2.45 passes per 90 to the final third.
Also, he averages 0.22 completed crosses per 90. In the presence of a striker like Mason Greenwood or Edinson Cavani, these crosses can be as good as gold for the Old Trafford outfit.
In the below formation, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes will feature as box-to-box midfielders with both contributing to attack and defense, equally.
Scott McTominay has evolved over the past two seasons as a defensive midfielder and can support as a single DM for Manchester United. Sancho will keep the opposition’s fullbacks at bay with his threatening pace in a 4-3-3 formation.

Formation 2: 4-2-3-1 with two pivots
For most of the 2019/20 season, OGS used the counter-attacking 4-2-3-1 formation with Fred and Scott McTominay shielding the defense. Mason Greenwood or Marcus Rashford started on the right-wing with Paul Pogba on the left flank.
However, Jadon Sancho can push Paul Pogba back into a deep-lying playmaker position with Scott McTominay to shield the defense. PP6 featured as a deep-lying midfielder during Jose Mourinho’s tenure.

Against the sides like Manchester City and Chelsea, the Red Devils prefer to hit on the counter. With Marcus Rashford on the left and Jadon Sancho on the right, this counter-attacking outfit can be too hot to handle.
