England vs Scotland: Preview, team news, probable XI and prediction
How Scotland and England are shaping up for the Euro 2020 Matchday 2 clash?
England’s marginal win over Croatia offered plenty of talking points, with Kieron Trippier’s role as a left-back being the centerpiece.
It was a bold move from Gareth Southgate to leave both of his left-backs – Luke Shaw and Ben Chilwell – on the sidelines, and while Trippier did have his moments of fumbles, he more or less got the job done.
Midfielder Kalvin Phillips needs a special mention too. The Leeds United man was the heart and soul of England and ended with a passing accuracy of 94% and the only assist. He should keep his place on Friday.
Scotland, on the other hand, suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Czech Republic in their opening game, meaning that anything but a win on Friday would technically end their journey right away.
Against the Czechs, the Scots did produce goalscoring chances but to no avail. Lyndon Dykes and John McGinn combined for Scotland’s eight of 19 attempts on goal, but the duo was visibly lacking the clinical edge.
