Manchester United finished runners-up in the English Premier League after a shaky start to the season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was on the brink of being sacked after the first eight games played in the EPL.

However, he turned things around after the first international break in November. A few media outlets tipped the club to finish in the middle of the pack, but Manchester United reached the top of the table in January.

The lack of intensity and squad depth cost them first place and they had to settle for second place at the end of the season. Here is Manchester United’s Premier League 2020/21 season review.

Manchester United’s Highest High

There were multiple highs for Red Devils in 2020/21. The highest point came against Southampton when Ole’s Tricky Red Devils defeated Ralph Hussenhuttl’s side 9-0 at Old Trafford.

Manchester United finished the first half up by 4-0 with the next five goals scored in the second. Ole’s side was ruthless on the day and it was arguably the most promising moment of their campaign.

Manchester United’s Lows

The lowest point for the Old Trafford outfit was against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur when the club was thrashed 1-6 at Old Trafford.

A massive defeat was inflicted on the Red Devils by Ole’s predecessor, Mourinho. This made the defeat a lot more bitter than others during the campaign.

Manchester United started on a brighter note by scoring a first-minute goal but Spurs bounced back. Solskjaer’s men were a man down and three goals down in the first half.

The second half was more of the same and it just went from bad to worse. The defeat drew huge criticism from all quarters of the fanbase and demanded the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
