This Premier League season has brought many surprises and a lot of amazing performances. Three teams that had great highs but also endured heavy lows were Arsenal, Leeds United and Everton.
Both the Gunners and the Toffees missed the mark completely this season past. Both also displayed promising signings in the first parts of the campaign, only to fail miserably as the term wore on.
Leeds United, on the other hand, enjoyed a seesaw season back in the Premier League. One of the best-attacking sides was also one of the worst defensive sides.
Everton were arguably the greatest pretenders of the lot, thinking they won the league back in October already while mocking their Merseyside foes for being 10th at the time.
A top-10 finish can be taken as a positive by Marcelo Bielsa as not many promoted sides finish in the top half of the table.
With Everton sadly, “he who laughs last, laughs the longest”. That is truly the best way to depict how the Toffees’ promising start bombed out into a calamitous ending as they end the season in 10th.
