Pep Guardiola sent Barcelona fans into a frenzy following his sneaky comments on the striker he shed a tear for on Sunday and when bidding Sergio Aguero a fitting farewell from the Etihad.

Manchester City celebrated in style in front of their fans at their welcome back party. They ran riot over Everton and squashed their European hopes with a 5-0 win in front of the home crowd.

It was an emotional day for all, especially Sergio Aguero – who on the day, displayed his unmatched quality and why he is already a Premier League legend.

Aguero did not start against the Toffees and was introduced to the game in the 65th minute, replacing winger, Riyad Mahrez. He enjoyed a round of applause from the Etihad for one last time.

At the time he was substituted on, the score was already 3-0 to the hosts thanks to goals from Kevin de Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus, and Phil Foden. The result was well and truly over but Aguero had to leave his mark on the game.

As we know and what we’ve come to love from the prolific goalscorer, is his final day drama. Sergio Aguero loves the EPL closing day – nobody will forget his title-winning goal back in 2012 when he won his first EPL gold medal.

Sergio Aguero was only six minutes on the pitch

It took the striker six minutes to add his name to the scoresheet. It then took another five more minutes to score his second, ending off his Manchester City career with a brace on the final day.

His two goals were by no means standard goals and required the world-class ability of what we’ve come so accustomed to watching over the years – since him signing from Atletico Madrid back in 2011 for a then club-record fee of £35m.

Pep couldn’t hold back the waterworks when interviewed about his soon-to-be former striker. It is understandable, considering the major success the Argentine brought in his 10-year stay at Manchester City.

In his Man City decade, he brought them 5 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, and 6 EFL Cups. The best stat of them all, his ruthlessness in front of goal. He has in 275 PL games scored 184 goals. He has been key to their long-term success and surpassed what anybody could imagine him doing in England.

But where to now for Sergio Aguero?

It appears Pep Guardiola could have let Sergio’s next destination slip during his interview on the forward. The Man City manager, with a smile on his face, said Aguero could be playing alongside Messi for the team he holds dear to his heart.

What Pep said during his emotional interview:

"Maybe I reveal a secret. Maybe he is close to agreeing a deal for the club of my heart – for Barcelona. He is going to be playing alongside the best player of all time, Messi. (Via: Sky Sports)"

We all know Pep’s love for Barca and Camp Nou is unwavering. We all know he refers to Messi as the best player to ever grace the football pitch. Furthermore, We all have heard in the past few weeks that Aguero’s entourage has met up with the La Liga club for a possible free transfer to them.

When adding all of this and subtracting a little of that with a multiplication here and there, we can all agree it is only a matter of “when” will he announce his deal with the Catalan side and it’s no longer a question of “if” he will be moving to the Catalan side.

Barcelona’s financial status has them crying out for free transfer deals

Every penny counts for Barca in these trialing times. They are on a mission to get back to their best. They, in return, want to create better dealings for top-class players – such as the possible free transfer of Sergio Aguero.

This deal, if/when it goes through, creates a positive knock-on effect at Camp Nou. This inevitably lets us know, Messi is not going anywhere and will probably retire at Barcelona.

The two, Aguero and Messi, have enjoyed minutes on the pitch together for their country. They will be relishing the chance to play together while winning trophies, at club level.
