Arguably the most shocking news as we approach the season finale and the summer transfer window – Wolverhampton Wanderers manager, Nuno Espírito Santo, will leave the club at the end of the season.

After four amazing seasons with Wolves the Portuguese tactician, Nuno Espírito Santo, has decided to part ways with the club. The conclusion delivered is/was by mutual consent by both Nuno and the club.

"Wolves can confirm head coach Nuno Espírito Santo will leave the club, by mutual agreement, after Sunday’s match against Manchester United."

Bringing them back to the big leagues and making Wolves one of the most exciting teams to watch

Santo has been excellent in his time at Molineux. He not only brought this club back to the Premier League after a six-year absence, but he also took them to the top half of the EPL standings.

I say this with loads of confidence and know soundly, many will agree with me – since their return to the top flight, they have one of the most entertaining sides outside of the traditional top-six, even giving Leicester City a run for their money.

The Foxes only became a better brand under the current manager, Brendan Rodgers. Sadly, following a tremendous loss in the attacking department in Raul Jimenez for the Wanderers, the club will finish outside of the top 10 this season for the first time since their re-entry.

Time to say goodbye for Nuno Espírito Santo:

"Since the first day we arrived at Compton, our ambition was to make a positive change and push this football club forward, and I am proud to say that we did that every single day. We achieved our goals, we did it with passion and we did it together.Firstly, I want to thank the supporters, who have all played such an important part in helping us reach new heights for Wolves, and the people of the city, who embraced us and made us feel at home.I, of course, want to thank all of the staff at Wolves, for their support and total commitment, every single day. Most importantly, I want to thank each-and-every player that we’ve worked with since the day we started, for their loyalty, their dedication, hard work and talent. They are the ones who have made this amazing journey possible for us.Sunday will be a very emotional day, but I am so happy that the fans will be back in Molineux and we can share one last special moment together, as one pack. Nuno Santo’s biggest success at Wolves

Bringing Wolves back to the English top-flight was his greatest achievement, but how did it was even better. He got Wolves promotion by winning the EFL Championship with 99 points – the closest team in second place finished on 90 points.

They finished the EFL campaign with the shared best defence with second-placed Cardiff City, conceding 39 goals only. Following a fantastic run in the Championship to gain them promotion, he did what many promoted sides couldn’t and that was, finish their first season back in a European spot.

Taking their Europa League qualifications one step further; he became the first manager in almost 50 years to reach the competition’s quarter-finals. He will leave a proud manager, as they manage to stay afloat in the Premier League for another season.

Nuno is not a candidate for the vacant Tottenham job

Regardless of the news of Nuno leaving Wolves at the end of the season, there is no word of him taking over at Tottenham Hotspur. They have other first-choice preference over the Portuguese.

For now, he will just be taking a break with no managerial posts being named as a potential new job for him. News, however, could change in a second in the football world. So don’t count him out as being the new man in North London.
