Transfer Talks: Potential Aston Villa Attacking Targets
The summer transfer window is fast approaching, and Premier League clubs should be drawing up potential targets. One story that should be interesting to follow involves Aston Villa.
Having secured their place in the Premier League for next season, Villa will need to bring in reinforcements to push for a top-half finish.
With so many question marks in the attack, we will be looking at potential Aston Villa attacking targets for this summer.
Potential Attacking Departures for Aston Villa
All English Premier League
One of the main reasons why Aston Villa will be an interesting team to follow is their potential departures.
There are two main players who are being linked with many of the top Premier League clubs. The two players in question are Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins.
Jack Grealish seems to be linked with a move away from Aston Villa every transfer window, but so far he has remained at the club. Could this be the summer he finally makes the move away?
It looks like Manchester United and Manchester City both have Grealish listed as a potential target and on the list of priorities. If he were to leave it would leave a gaping hole in the Aston Villa attack and midfield.
Ollie Watkins has impressed so far for Aston Villa in his maiden Premier League campaign. These impressive performances have caught the eye of plenty of clubs.
Liverpool is the main club being linked with Watkins so far, but clubs such as Manchester City could become interested if they were to lose their main targets and were to go elsewhere.
Potential Aston Villa Attacking Targets
Aston Villa could have a lot of money to play with should some of their top players leave. This should keep them in the running for some top names as well.
Tammy Abraham, Dwight McNeil, Milot Rashica, and Todd Cantwell are all names that are being linked with the Villains at the moment.
Tammy Abraham is a hugely talented striker for Chelsea who may be moving on this summer. Chelsea has all but said he will be available for the right price as he has found game time hard to come by this season.
This should be one of the top names on the list of potential Aston Villa attacking targets. AC Milan and West Ham are also being linked with Tammy Abraham as of late.
Dwight McNeil is a 21-year-old winger for Burnley with tons of potential. He currently has a 3-year contract at Burnley and is one of their brightest young players.
Should Grealish move away from the club, Villa would be wise to make a move. It would most likely take a large sum of money as Burnley would not want to sell McNeil, especially within the Premier League to a rival playing for similar spots.
Milot Rashica is a young winger for Werder Bremen who has had some impressive performances this season. He is someone who would not be overly expensive for Aston Villa. Rashica should be considered a top target regardless of whether Grealish and Watkins move on to other clubs.
Finally, Todd Cantwell is a young English playmaker for Norwich who is being linked with Aston Villa and other Premier League clubs. In my opinion, he shouldn’t really be considered a like-for-like replacement for either Grealish or Watkins.
He is definitely a talented player and could be helpful for Aston Villa next season. But in terms of replacing their star players, he probably isn’t ready for the task at this point in time.
It should also be mentioned that Norwich has secured promotion to the Premier League, so they would not be willing to sell Cantwell on the cheap.
