The moral of Monday night between Leeds United and Liverpool was?

Both teams are lucky either were missing their shooting boots, having many chances going wide or stopped by both Alisson and Illan Meslier.

Together the pair of English top-flight clubs totalled 29 shots at goal and had a combined total of 20 hit the target. Liverpool’s 17 shots gave them a conversion rate of 5% and Leeds a conversion rate of 7%.

That’s extremely poor by these two’s standards. Both the Whites and the Reds are in the top eight in goals scored in the Premier League this season.

Taking all the action, shots missing the mark, and saves made by the two stoppers, a point was a well-deserved outcome.

Marcelo Bielsa and his side missed the chance to go up one place into ninth and overtake Arsenal, who has a game in hand over them. However, their loss of points was not as damaging as their opponents.

Their opponents, Liverpool, missed a massive opening to get back into the top-four and leapfrog both West Ham (fourth place on 55 points) and Chelsea (fifth place on 54 points).

Liverpool could have piled on so much more pressure before the pair took the field in their respective EPL fixtures.

Funny enough, the West Londoners travel to East London for a direct fourth vs fifth fight on April 24.

With a victory on Monday for the Reds and a point shared in that encounter between the Hammers and the Blues, it would have seen Klopp’s team stay in fourth and take the wheel in the driver’s seat.

It would have even applied pressure on Leicester City, who are sweating their third-place spot at the moment. Liverpool gave the trio ahead of them breathing room – and funny enough, with all this in mind, the most drama still unfolded after the final whistle.
