For multiple transfer windows, Hector Bellerin has been linked with an Arsenal exit. This time though, we could finally see the right-back move on from the Emirates during the summer.
Hector Bellerin has always been monitored by some of the top clubs in Europe. Most notably, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
"The recently crowned FA Community Shield winners are burning the night oil as they try to wrap up all their business in the transfer window before the new season kicks off. As they welcome new defender Gabriel Magalhaes, they prepare up to say goodbye to Hector Bellerin. The right back could bring to an end a six-year stay at the Emirates if the deal with Paris Saint-Germain goes through. The talks have just initiated between the English and French club, but the idea of him heading to Paris has been a prospect all summer. (Via: thetopflight.com)"
Despite all the links to teams doing better than the Gunners over recent years, he still never made the switch. Partially, this was down to a career-threatening injury and a few injuries over the last few seasons.
Bellerin suffered from the usual hamstring problem, calf or muscle strain but his worst injury of them all, a cruciate ligament rupture that occurred in 2019. This saw him sidelined for his longest spell to date, keeping him in the stands for eight months.
He only featured in two EPL fixtures for the 2019/20 season. Now, thankfully, the player has finally overcome his injury demons and has strung together a good run of games for the North London club.
But now it could be the time Hector Bellerin moves on and ends his Arsenal career
All English Premier League
Last summer he was a signature and an agreement away from leaving Arsenal for one of the abovementioned clubs, PSG.
Unfortunately for the Ligue 1 outfit, they had to pull out of the deal as the player was asked to stay at the Emirates for one more season by the manager.
Mikel Arteta and the London club struggled to complete all their business in one window, having to offload before buying any new players. This ultimately led to business taking long to conclude.
Also, Arteta found other areas more pressing and in need of new personnel over the right-back position. So the fullback decided to stay put and help the club out but now, looks as if he will finally make the long-awaited switch.
Influencing the move are talks of Arsenal’s potential targets to replace him. They have been mentioned with Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi and Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey.
The latter has been on the cards since January following a stellar first half to the season as a Seagull. However, reports suggest he’s not first on the list and the Gunners will try to acquire the top targets before going in for Lamptey.
Achraf Hakimi’s situation is a bit different. He doesn’t want to leave and is trying his best to stay at the San Siro but this is the one the Gunners have been keeping an eye on for a while.
No formal offer has been submitted by the Gunners nor has there been an approach by them. So for now, the exit plan is there but the replacement plan is yet to take shape.
