Vladimír Coufal – West Ham United

The first entry on this list is one of 28-year-old West Ham full-back, Coufal. Hailing from Slavia Prague and costing the Irons a mere £5 million, this is a transfer that has checkmarks all over it.

A player who is undoubtedly now one of the first names on the team sheet for David Moyes, Vladimir Coufal has earned his spot as arguably the best signing of the season.

He has put on showings that can only fairly describe him as a defensive wall. Coufal has earmarked himself as a versatile full-back whose defensive output shines with him sitting in the top 15 in successful tackles for defenders across the league with 2.5 per 90 (newcomer Tyrick Mitchell surprisingly leads this category).

His ability to stay on the pitch is a vital, yet understated part of the appeal for Moyes. Registering just north of 2400 minutes on the pitch, his reliability to keep being picked week in week out speaks volumes to his readiness alongside his fellow teammate and countryman in Tomas Soucek.

Soucek is credited with informing and pressing on to West Ham higher-ups regarding his friend and putting in a small word has gone a very long way for the club.

Even in a COVID setting, West Ham are pillaging through the bottom and finding themselves a perfect cog that fits in the well-oiled machine that is David Moyes’ Claret and Blue.
