In what was an exciting Manchester Derby, Manchester United pulled out an impressive 2-0 victory over their neighboring rivals, Manchester City.

This was a highly anticipated match-up between the top two teams in the Premier League. Manchester City was coming into the game on an amazing winning streak. But it was not enough as they were unable to extend their run even further.

Game Analysis of Manchester United’s 0-2 victory

The goals came early for United. Within the first minute of the game, they won a penalty after an unnecessary challenge by Gabriel Jesus. The penalty was slotted home by the always reliable Bruno Fernandes.

More from Manchester City

After that point of uncertainty for Manchester City, they started to control the game. They were unable to pull a goal back before halftime despite getting plenty of chances.

The second half started very similarly as João Cancelo was caught completely off guard. Luke Shaw was able to make a brilliant run before finishing off the attack with another goal.

The rest of the game was just more of the same for City. They played pretty well but were unable to put together any goals to catch up with United.

It must be said, Manchester United did exactly what they needed to come out with a win in the Manchester Derby.

Future outlook after the Manchester Derby

For Manchester City, not much has changed. Although their winning streak is now over, they still have a commanding lead in the Premier League.

They will obviously be a little upset over the loss to their rivals. But with multiple trophies just within grasp, they will need to forget about this game and get back to winning ways.

On the flip side, Manchester United has to feel great about this win. They were able to go into the Etihad and pull off a great victory.

Although they are still quite a ways off from the top spot in the Premier League standings being 11 points off their city foes in second place, it is still possible for them to get back into the title race.

United will have plenty of momentum going forward in both the Premier League and the Europa League.
