Over the course of the current Premier League season, it has become clear that Manchester City needs a new striker. Sergio Aguero isn’t getting any younger and cannot be relied upon to start regularly.
Aguero has been often injured this season along with Gabriel Jesus. As a result, City has been forced to play Ferran Torres, Riyad Mahrez and even Phil Foden out of position.
Rumors have started circulating that Manchester City have already drawn up a shortlist of possible replacements.
Here we can take a look at potential targets as Manchester City searches for an Aguero replacement.
Erling Haaland
Haaland is the easy choice for an Aguero replacement. The 20-year-old is already considered a superstar and has been linked with every club in the world.
There have been some rumors that Man City will look to snap up the talented striker as early as this summer. Surely they hope to lock this one up quickly to avoid a bidding war.
There will be plenty of suitors for Haaland but it’s safe to say he would be near the top of the wish list for the Premier League club.
Romelu Lukaku
A move for Romelu Lukaku would surely be a consideration if City decided to make a move over the summer. Lukaku has Premier League experience and has shown he can score goals at will.
Currently, he has 16 goals and 4 assists for Inter Milan in 21 appearances. This is certainly a name to monitor although it is likely that Inter Milan would look to keep hold of their star player.
Lautaro Martinez

Inter Milan really do have an embarrassment of riches in the striker positions. Lautaro Martinez has been linked with plenty of clubs over the past year, most notably Barcelona and Man City.
It’s possible that he would be the perfect fit as a Sergio Aguero replacement. Lautaro probably has the most similarities to his fellow Argentina teammate.
But at the same time, he is probably considered a little bit less experienced than Haaland or Lukaku. Either way, if Manchester City decides to move on from Aguero then Lautaro Martinez will be mentioned often.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
The first 3 names on this list have been frequently linked with Manchester City. This last one is more of a guess as to a potential wild card option.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has taken the Premier League by storm this season. With 13 goals in 20 Premier League matches for Everton, Calvert-Lewin is clearly starting to realize his potential.
Manchester City will no doubt have taken notice of Calvert-Lewin’s great run of form. it’s yet to be seen if Calvert-Lewin will emerge as a legitimate target.
