Newcastle could offer ex-Everton midfielder, Idrissa Gueye, a way back to the Premier League.

Idrissa Gueye’s owners and Newcastle United are in talks over a possible loan deal until the end of the season. The Magpies are looking to add some quality in depth, especially in the middle of the park, and Gueye is the man for the job.

It is further reported by Get French Football News that both clubs are happy to “go ahead with the transaction” with new PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino not losing sleep over not selecting him – a move will suit all involved, particularly the Senegal international.

Idrissa Gueye was an outstanding midfield player for Everton

Gueye, 31 years of age already, enjoyed four seasons in the English Premier League – once with Aston Villa and three with the Toffees thereafter.

His showings for the Merseysiders was the reason the Ligue 1 champions snapped him up from Everton back in 2019. But game time has been hard to come by and will be even harder to earn under Poch.

The beautiful thing about the defensive-minded player is that he is able to stay fit for majority of the season – finishing a total of 30 plus games per season. It was only in Paris, due to lack of selection, is where he couldn’t collect more than 20 appearances.

It would be difficult for him to stay fit at 31 but it is not impossible, seeing that he has such a great track record. Adding to his physicality greatness he also chips in with a goal here and there. A midfielder that scores can fit into any teams.

Between France and England, he has scored 11 league goals in 303 games. Also since moving over to PSG he has won more silverware than Everton and being in more finals – he has only been there for two seasons, which includes the current one. Crazy to think about!

How good of a signing would Idrissa Gueye be for Steve Bruce who enjoyed a 2-0 win over Gueye’s old club, Everton.
