Mason Greenwood’s recent adaptation off the pitch has been the opposite of his brilliance when on it.

The bad news keeps following 19-year-old Manchester United striker, Mason Greenwood after, who after breaching COVID-19 protocol with Man City’s Phil Foden while on international duty, has now been warned by his club to stay grounded.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the forward since the international shenanigans, whether he has been left out of the squad due to injury or for the lack of discipline shown during recent times. He has been absent since their massive 6-1 loss to Tottenham before the international break.

"Mason Greenwood has been warned about his behaviour by Manchester United following recent issues, including time-keeping problems. The youngster, who came through the club’s academy before establishing himself in the first team last season, has been reminded of his responsibilities as a Manchester United player."

As per Sky and the manager, their couple of wins on the bounce-back and missed by the forward was due to injury and not as a consequence of his recent behaviour. But now the reports have changed a bit and believe his absence was more than just because of a “niggle”.

"Discipline and standards are highly important to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having been at the club under Sir Alex Ferguson, and particular attention is being paid to Greenwood because he has come through the academy.Seventeen goals in his first full season have put the 19-year-old firmly in the spotlight and I understand as well as talking to Greenwood about his time-keeping, United are working hard to ensure that he is able to cope with the extra challenges that go hand in hand with such rapid development. Footballers have an image to uphold and a certain standard to maintain so that you do not get painted with the same brush as players like Mario Balotelli, the “why always me” free agent now. Soccer players are role models to youngsters worldwide, and Mason himself has a long way to go and a lot to learn.

Having a youthful side, we should expect these types of issues to take place more often than not. Therefore, a reminder for the up and coming stars of the game will happen from time to time. He is the future of Manchester and the club will do all to protect their image and the image of the player.
