Late report on Leicester City’s second signing of the summer Cengiz Under
On Sunday ahead of their victory over Burnley, the Foxes announced the arrival of AS Roma winger Cengiz Under.
In case you missed it with scenes on the pitch taking priority on a weekend, Leicester City welcomed their second summer signing. They’ve acquired the services of As Roma’s 23-year-old attacker, Cengiz Under, on a loan deal with “no obligation” to buy.
The transaction was one of the longest this summer due to the Italian club trying to force Leicester into a must-buy situation after the loan deal has run its course. But that is all behind them now and the player has already arrived at the King Power.
The loan amount is £2.7m. The fee to be paid should they decide on a long-term future at the club for Under and if he hits the ground running could sum to £22m, according to Sky Sports. If he is not a smash hit in the Premier League, then they are not obliged to buy.

"Leicester have signed Cengiz Under from Roma on a season-long loan with an option to buy the winger next summer.Initial discussions over a deal to sign Under stalled as the two clubs struggled to reach an agreement on whether there would be an obligation to buy the Turkey international at the end of his loan spell.Leicester are not obligated to purchase the player but can make an assessment at the end of his time at the club, with a fee of around £22m likely. Who is Cengiz Under?
At 19-years-old, the Turkish international started out at Super Lig side, Basaksehir. He enjoyed a good spell with many minutes on the pitch. He managed 32 appearances and chipped in with seven goals and five assists.
Such a promising breakthrough in his homeland licensed a move to Italy where had three average seasons at best. A goal contribution of 13 for a campaign was his best.
"Under is a left-footed winger who has primarily operated on the right wing for Roma since arriving from Istanbul Basaksehir in 2017. He has scored 17 goals in 88 games for the Serie A club, but he has failed to hold down a first-team place during his three years in the capital."
Last season he was limited to 18 games with only 10 of them being starts and the rest coming off from the bench or, missing out due to injury. He managed his lowest total with a lousy three goals. Hopefully, his fortune will change at the King Power.
Brendan Rodgers can unlock the player who scored one of the deciding goals against Shakhtar while contributing with an assist to surprise Barcelona out of a qualifying position in the 2018/19 Champions League semi-finals, a run that only ended cause they met the team who would go on to win it, Liverpool.
