I live my life an FPL Gameweek at a time.

Gameweek 1 of the Fantasy Premier League is over and the race has begun! It started well with a hattrick for Salah, a brace for reigning Golden Boot holder Jamie Vardy and some attacking for favourites like Werner, Aubameyang and Jimenez.

This week sees the start of the season for two of the biggest clubs and some of the best FPL assets. Man City and Man United kick off their campaign after a prolonged summer break and the transfer market has been going crazy with FPL managers piling in on KDB, Bruno Fernandes and Martial.

It’s a tough call for those like me who had Aubameyang and Salah poised to make way, after strong starts from both and a good fixture for each of them (yes I know Liverpool play Chelsea, they still cannot defend!) do we stick with our guns or gamble on other assets?

Here are a few things to help make those decisions

Key Stats

  • As you were from last year with Salah topping a lot of key metrics including shots, shots in the box, big chances (2, both of the penalties) and penalty box touches with 21(!) – next highest was Richarlison, Mane and Sharp with 9
  • Everton didn’t just beat Spurs, they totally outplayed them! Richarlison had more shots than any other striker, while Rodriguez slotted in nicely and created more chances than any player in GW1 (7)
  • Ryan Fredericks defied the result and created the most chances of any defender with 5
  • Werner slotted in nicely, he took 5 shots, which were all in the box
  • As you might expect given the results, Leeds top the table for shots conceded, followed by WBA, who did not look like they could withstand a Premier League attack

Fixtures

Here is my latest fixture tracker

West Brom have great fixtures but were very poor against Leicester.

Spurs likewise, and also are playing almost every 3 days until December if they continue in the Europa League!

West Ham and Sheffield United look like a bad option for now.
