Transfer News: Man City fullback returns to RB Leipzig on a season-long loan
Angelino moves for the second time to Germany as he completes a loan deal keeping him there till the end of the season.
RB Leipzig and Man City confirm the season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent for left-back Angelino. This is the second time the defender has flown off to Germany to join up with Julian Nagelsmann.
"RB Leipzig have secured the loan signing of left-back Angelino from Manchester City, who returns after spending the second half of last season with the Bundesliga outfit. The 23-year-old will spend the entire 2020-21 campaign on loan with Leipzig and will potentially stay on a permanent basis."
The deal has more to it than just a season-long loan, with the Germans having the option to make him a permanent resident, which they are more than willing to do after his good showing in the second half of the Bundesliga.

However, the Spaniard must complete a certain number of games as per Goal’s report. Twelve is the target to “trigger” the option to buy.
The overall cost is said to be €18 million (£16m) once it is all settled and if the fullback makes the total amount of appearances needed.
"Angelino must make 12 appearances for RB Leipzig to trigger the purchase obligation, and five of those 12 must come in the second half of the season.Should that threshold be met, Leipzig would land the Spaniard on a four-year deal until 2025. (Via: goal.com)"
He was a key figure in the side that went as far as the semi-finals in the Champions League where they lost 3-0 to Paris Saint-Germain on the night. It was the furthest they’ve gone in the tournament, making history with the club.
Not sure if the loan also means there is still the slightest chance for him to stay at Man City in case Pep has a change of heart. An injury to Oleksandr Zinchenko in the early part of last season opened the door for Angelino but he failed to impress Guardiola and cement his place in the starting 11 or Pep’s usual roulette.
The defence was a major talking point of Man City last season, showing many weaknesses along the way to the end of the campaign. City’s interest and biggest priority at the moment is the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
