Barcelona ready to offload Messi to Manchester City for £250m
It is said the La Liga giants are resigned in losing their most gifted player to Man City and are willing to offload the attacker for £250 million.
Like Ronaldo trended forever when the news broke he was ready to quit Real Madrid back in 2018, so has it been with the surprising news that Lionel Messi will depart his boyhood club, Barcelona.
Since the start of the exit rumours, it was no secret that only a few teams were able to sign him, as well as willing to sign him. Of those clubs, only two have been mentioned consistently, one is an English side and the other French. The duo discussed are Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, who’s owners both have deep, deep, deep, pockets.
The side leading the race is Pep’s Man City, with Messi wanting to reunite with his old boss. Now it appears the Spanish side has given in to his request to depart and are willing to listen to offers, but only those prepared to start the bidding at the opening bid of £250m.

"Barcelona and Manchester City both believe Lionel Messi is set for the Premier League. They are desperately trying to broker a £250million compromise with Manchester City over Lionel Messi."
Following the breaking news of Barca wanting a comprised fee of £250m is that Man City’s legal team are looking into Messi’s contract, searching for any loopholes or if there is any clause in the contract that can help them lower the asking price or get him on a free.
"City’s lawyers now examining the clause in Messi’s contract that gives them hope they can sign the Argentine for free, beleaguered Barca bosses hope that the Blues will agree to a players-plus-cash deal rather than take a £630million gamble in court. (Via: The Daily Mirror)"
Firstly, can you imagine the La Liga’s best player and one of the greatest to grace the football pitch leaving on a free transfer? It will surely go down as the biggest loss of funds in the history of sports, let alone football.
This transfer seems to be warping in speed, gathering pace a lot quicker than one would think, considering it has taken the Manchester side 10 years to persuade Messi to change employees. That, and rumours from close friends of the new boss in charge has told media outlets, Ronald Koeman has already started planning on life without Messi at the Camp Nou.
Retirement at the Catalan based club is now a far stretch and unlikely to happen. However, while all this is going on, PSG is said to be ready to throw all their cards, chips, and money on the table in an attempt to bring the six-time Ballon d’Or winner to Le Parc des Princes.
"Earlier this week that PSG were monitoring the Messi situation, and that the Barca star has even chatted with Neymar about reuniting in Paris, and Sport now say the Parisian club are now going for it.those behind the scenes feel that pairing the forward, regarded as the best ever by some, with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe would send shockwaves through football. Imagine… Messi alongside Mbappe and Neymar with Di Maria in the mix? Damn! The world is not ready for it. However, it must be said, the player is reaching the latter stages of his footballing career. At 33-years-old, the rough and rugged Premier League is not the friendliest places to go to.
Never doubting the most gifted player to walk this earth, it would be a great watch to see if Messi can do what he has been doing since he stepped foot on a pitch back in 2004.
