Leicester has a hole to fill and money to spend on the left-back slot.

Following academy graduate Ben Chilwell‘s £50 million move to Chelsea, Leicester City are faced with an unwanted dilemma – who can they buy to replace one of the Premier League’s top homegrown left backs?

Since his breakthrough campaign in 2017-18, Chilwell has steadily improved, becoming arguably the top young English left back in the Premier League.

The 11-cap England international was a key cog in a stingy Leicester defence, one which conceded a mere 41 goals across 38 games.

Add to this 3 goals and 3 assists in 27 league appearances – at a match rating of 7.03 (per WhoScored) – and its little wonder that title-chasing Chelsea shelled out such an eye-watering fee for Chilwell.

Whilst Leicester will be pleased to have collected such a tidy sum for their prized fullback, Ben’s departure leaves a sizeable hole to fill ahead of a highly important campaign, both in Europe and domestically. So, who might the Foxes potentially replace him with?
