The Final Fantasy Premier League Review of the 2019/20 season
Best January Transfer – Bruno Fernandes (MID, 117 points, 8.0m->9.0m)
Man United had spent a long time without a playmaker. Pogba was touted as the man but struggled under the weight of expectation.
Other centre mids like McTominay, Fred, and Matic provided energy and industry but were distinctly lacking in flair! In January OGS brought in Bruno Fernandes and suddenly everything clicked.
Here was a man able to play the balls to unpick defences or set free counter attacks at will. Within FPL he was the man that made Man United assets attractive again.
He was a threat for goals and assists, recording 6 double-figure returns in his short 14 week season! Next season he will surely be up there with KDB and Salah for price, but also for potential.
Project Restart Star – Raheem Sterling (MID, 204 points (85 GW30-38), 12.0m->12.0m)
I was so excited for Sterling this season! After 2 amazing seasons under Pep, I was convinced he would be the biggest name in the FPL season. It all started so well with a hat-trick against West Ham in week 1 and goals in the following 2 weeks.
Then he dried up with a slow drip-feed of points and several games spent on the bench. However, after the restart, he went bananas! He scored 9 goals in 11 games, got 4 assists and scored over 1/3 of his points in these final matches. Hopefully, he can take that form into the start of next season!
