Manchester United: Reasons why Jesse Lingard has no future at Old Trafford
By Varun Aithal
Since the restart of the Premier League, Manchester United is enjoying an unbeaten run across all competitions.
On top of it, they have scored goals aplenty alongside shattering multiple records. With the season reaching the business end, fringe players have come again into the spotlight and one of those is Jesse Lingard.
Jesse Lingard has featured only in one FA Cup game since the resumption of football where he failed to leave his mark on the game. With him returning to action is Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford, but it is only Jesse Lingard who has a point to prove.
The attacking midfielder, who can also help the team as a winger, has produced dismal performances this season. There might be plenty of reasons behind it, but the player has failed to perform consistently. Jesse Lingard is 27 already and is at his career prime. However, the player has been unable to shoulder the responsibilities at Old Trafford.
Along with Lingard’s inconsistency, the arrival of 21-year-old Daniel James has worsened the situation for the England international. The former Swansea star has fared better than the Englishman with three goals and six assists to his name in top flight football.
Is also bein said that Manchester United is interested in players like Donny van de Beek and Jadon Sancho, and it is high time for the academy graduate to look beyond Manchester United. On the other hand, United have stockpiled the middle of the park.
Scott McTominay and Fred are rotating and sharing the responsibility when Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, and Nemanja Matic do not start games for the club. With Hannibal Mejbri looking to breakthrough, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to make up his mind regarding Jesse Lingard.
Here are the three reasons why Jesse Lingard has no future at the Manchester club…
