Most unattended areas not dealt with effectively have come back to haunt them for many seasons.

When the club’s fans were crying for reinforcements in defense, Arsenal broke the bank to sign Nicolas Pepe for a fee of £72 million. This raised more concerns about the club’s business ethic, with Arsenal having a poor defensive record in the Premier League.

One more enormous mystery at the Emirates is the role of Mesut Ozil. Under Arsene Wenger, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil flourished, but because of a contract dispute and the lack of ambition shown by the hierarchy, the Chilean moved to Old Trafford. Though both were facing issues at the Emirates, it was only Sanchez who took a firm but a disastrous decision to move to Man United.

When Mikel Arteta assumed the reigns at Arsenal, he said he has a lot of work to do. He initially worked on those remarks, but it faded as the season progressed. Absence of Mesut Ozil on the pitch against Brighton and Hove Albion underlines the confusion at the club.
