The return to the Premier League hasn’t been very fruitful and favorable for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

They not only struggled against ruthless Manchester City but they also struggled against Brighton and Hove Albion. The woeful defending against the Seagulls in injury time resulted in Neal Maupay scoring the winner at the Amex Stadium.

Year after year, the Gunners have failed to address their defensive issues. It has reached a point for their fans where it wouldn’t surprise them if they concede over two goals.

Arsenal is one of the clubs alongside the relegation-battling sides who wished that the Premier League shouldn’t have returned. David Luiz will be considered as a real symbol of Arsenal’s defensive woes, and the fans were against the contract extension after the worst performance against Manchester City.

Although, the problem doesn’t start with David Luiz neither does it end there. The central defender position is a deep-rooted issue and makes fans question their transfer business.
