Man City capped off their second victory with ease when they hammered Burnley 5-0 in the final game of Matchday 30.

Three months and many days off from football and Man City act as if they’ve never missed a beat. The current champions of England showcased what is to come out of the dugout swinging after waiting many moons for your chance.

Sean Dyche’s men were not exactly bad, but the contrast in quality between the two sides was quite obvious to notice and truly reflected in the scoreline of 5-0. Young Englishman, Phil Foden, was again the talk of the town after another stellar performance under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

The forward scored a world-class brace and was joined by other brace-man, Riyad Mahrez and David Silva, who scored a single shot. The team were simply the best from the weekend by a long shot.  They’ve started in a similar fashion to what Liverpool began the campaign, totally flawless. No goals conceded and eight scored in 180 minutes of Premier League football.

More from Manchester City

With Liverpool a couple of games, plus six points away from lifting the Premier League title, it’s only fair to compare them to the previous kings of the country, Manchester City. The two have been in a league of their own for the past couple of seasons, enrolling in a two-way battle for most of the time.

There have been teams able to stop them from gaining points amid their individual fantastic runs, however, no other club has been on their level of greatness for a while. But this brings up questions like are Liverpool really the best team in the league?

The standings say so with them still 20 points ahead of their closest title rivals. Yet, the Reds performance on Sunday past is one that was far from convincing. The leaders played 90 minutes and enjoyed their first game back.

They took nine shots at goal with a measly three hitting the target. They also owned all the possession of the game with 67% possession. This displays the Reds could be in trouble of not emulating the form that got them to where they are today.

Pep’s men unleashed 18 shots at goal and scored five goals from these shots. They took more shots at goal and scored more goals than Everton, Liverpool, and Burnley combined. This should be a worry for Klopp, as this has gone on in the latter stages of the campaign before the forced break.
